Nasty Graffiti Found in Beach Neighborhood
Aug 28, 2006 01:42 PM PDT
Folks in one Virginia Beach neighborhood are trying to scrape away the spray
paint. Vandals hit the Westview Village neighborhood. That's off of Indian River
Road.
"Oh God. I can't tell you what was on it. It was vulgar," said an elderly
graffiti victim.
The 79-year-old woman did not want us to use her name because she is worried the
graffiti could be gang-related. Someone spray painted men's genitalia and dirty
words on her garage door.
She's not the only one with red, black and copper paint on her property. Someone
spray painted a pentagram on Roy Aratt's truck. They also put something on his
hood that ate away the paint.
"Looks like they used acid right here," said Roy. "They made another star."
Roy said about 10 cars and homes were marked with graffiti. It was also found on
the street and a stop sign. Crowns were also spray painted. Beach Police tell us
a crown is a symbol associated with gangs.
Police are still investigating. They don't know if it is the work of gangsters
or pranksters. They said if you find graffiti in your neighborhood, call the
Crimeline at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
