Minneapolis (WCCO) The
City of Minneapolis is offering additional help for residents who have to remove
graffiti from their properties.
Throughout this summer and fall, property owners have two options:
1. If property owners would like to remove graffiti from their properties, they
can pick up Gangbusters, a graffiti removal product, at any Minneapolis fire
station free-of-charge.
2. If owners do not want to remove the graffiti themselves, they city will
provide free removal or repainting over it. Any previously painted surface up to
eight feet high is eligible for repainting or removal.
The city will not remove graffiti from sensitive surfaces though, like unpainted
brick or stucco.
The city has a graffiti-removal painter on staff daily and residents or business
owners who would like to utilize this service, are asked to call the graffiti
hotline at 612-673-2090.
Once graffiti is reported, the graffiti hotline will notify the Minneapolis
Police Department and the Housing Inspections.
The Housing Inspections department will send a letter to the address requesting
the owner either returns a letter of consent within 10 days authorizing the city
to paint over it or the owner will have to remove or paint over the graffiti in
10 days.
