Vandals hit school, park with graffiti
From staff reports
MILLVILLE -- Vandals struck a city school and park, causing hundreds of dollars in damage.
Someone sprayed blue paint on much of the rear of Rieck Avenue School last Tuesday, police said. Authorities found obscenities, names and initials on the school and a storage building. The damage estimate was $500.
Spray paint also was found on the side of a car on Acorn Drive near Rieck Avenue. A police report indicated other vehicles in the area also were damaged with the blue paint, but details were not available Monday.
In another vandalism incident involving city property, Commissioner Tim Shannon told police graffiti was found last week on benches, walkways and a gazebo at Capt. Joseph Buck Park on Buck and Sassafras streets. The vandals used black and red markers.
City employees cleaned the park graffiti Thursday, but more was discovered the next day, Shannon said.
Police apparently have identified at least one suspect in the park vandalism.
