RAYTOWN, Mo. -- Raytown police are trying to find out who scribbled apparently racist remarks on a home and two cars Sunday night, KMBC's Bev Chapman reported.

Investigators are puzzled by the incongruent graffiti, which includes the words "KKK," "Hitler," and "black power."

The vandal used a felt-tip marker to leave the messages. The first place police noticed the writing was at All Cars Service at 61st and Blue Ridge Bouelvard.

"They called me about 3 in the morning. I was here about 10 minutes, and I was able to remove it without incident," said Jim Riddle, who runs the business. "We don't have any enemies. All our customers are happy with our service, so it had to be kids out on a prank."

More graffiti was found on a car on Harris Street. A kind of riddle was written on the driver's side, and the trunk was decorated with the words "X-Factor." A Pontiac label was written on the Oldsmobile Cutlass, and a racist slur rose from the gas tank nozzle, Chapman reported.

No one is sure if this is a hate crime or just a summer stunt, but police are taking it seriously. Anyone with information about the vandalism should call Raytown police at (816) 737-6020.
