JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Business owners in Riverside say they're fed up with graffiti artists tagging their buildings, and want more police patrols in the area.

"I'm sick of it," says David Hughes of Hughes Consolidation Service.

Hughes is outraged the city's code enforcement bureau has threatened $250-per-day fines if he doesn't clean up the graffiti within 63 days.

"As fast as I can clean it up, they come back and paint again," he says.

However, officials with code enforcement tell First Coast News they are only enforcing the law, and say they've asked residents to relay their concerns to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

JSO spokesman Ken Jefferson says there is the possibility of increased patrols in the area, due to growing complaints.
