It's an ugly sight and just about everywhere. It's estimated graffiti clean up
costs taxpayers and businesses $30 million a year. This week, state, county, and
city leaders are joining forces with Metro to help curb the problem.
During their county commission meeting Tuesday morning commissioners proclaimed
this Saturday, June 23, as Graffiti Awareness Day. Governor Jim Gibbons also
proclaimed Saturday as Graffiti Awareness Day. The City of Las Vegas, Henderson,
and North Las Vegas will do the same later this week.
The county is hoping to get the community involved this Saturday by giving out
paint and brushes. Several commissioners will also be out there rolling up there
sleeves and painting over graffiti.
The supplies will be given out at the Hollywood Recreation Center and the west
Flamingo Senior Center from 8 am until noon.
