READING, Pa. -- City workers in Reading have cleaned spray-painted graffiti off five statues and monuments found vandalized during the Memorial Day Weekend in City Park.

Public Works director Charles Jones said it took workers about an hour to power wash the monuments.

Police Captain Edward Kosmerl discovered the graffiti on Monday on a police memorial, a Christopher Columbus monument, a World War II memorial plaque and statues of Reading industrialist Frederick Lauer and President William McKinley.
Police said they have no leads but are continuing to investigate. Sgt. Michael Mullen, a gang expert, said the markings appeared to have a signature. Mullen said it was tagged, but he couldn't tell what it said.
