MUMBAI: Maharashtra Law Minister Govindrao Adik on Monday said in the Maharashtra legislative council that the state government would initiate action against those responsible for insulting Hindu Gods and Goddesses and inciting the feelings of the people by painting their pictures on the walls of a toilet.
The issue was raised by Sena legislator Vilas Awchat through point of propriety saying the pictures of Gods and Goddesses were painted on the walls of a public toilet at Shirdi.
The complaints made were also neglected by the Shirdi Trust, he added.
Chairman N S Pharande said such paintings on the walls of the toilet were wrong and instructed that either the paintings be wiped out or the toilet closed.
Adik, who is also the leader of the house, assured to initiate action against those responsible for the act and said the paintings would be wiped out from the walls of the toilet soon.
