The cinder block walls on North Frio and Ruiz were
designated a safe tagging area for at least 15 years, but now the county is
ready to tear them down.
The sheriff's office set up a new substation in the area three
weeks ago and now said the wall has to go.
"It's going to discontinue because now it belongs to the Bexar County
Sheriff's Office," Bexar County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Ruben Rodriguez said. The county is looking for volunteers to demolish the rest of
the wall. They plan to replace the eight inch cinder blocks with a chain
linked fence. Officials said anyone caught spraying new images on the wall
will end up behind bars. The Bexar County Sheriff's Office plans to make the area inside
the current graffiti walls into a parking lot for its patrol cars.
