Graffiti vandals have damaged personal and business property to the tune of
about $20,000 in the Denbigh section of Newport News. Police say the vandals have been at work since January, defacing buildings,
fences, dumpsters, utility vehicles and an interstate support column. The areas affected include Denbigh, the 13000-15000 blocks of Warwick
Boulevard, Colony Road at Warwick Boulevard, Hiden Boulevard at Warwick
Boulevard and the columns under the I-64 overpass over Bland Boulevard. Several words have been used more than others, including madkid, madone and,
most recently, mysto. If you know anything about these vandalisms, call Crime Line at
1-888-LOCK-U-UP. Graffiti is a crime, punishable by up to five years in prison and a $2,500
fine.
