Edmonton - City council is discussing a request for tougher rules for owners who don't remove graffiti from their buildings.
Edmonton Police have suggested a new bylaw that would make it an offence to create or allow graffiti to remain on a building.
Some business groups have complained that some property owners aren't removing offensive or gang-related tags from their property."I want to make sure if there are conditions in the community that need to be improved, we have the tools, and the people who live in these communities know how to make this better," Coun. Janice Melnychuk said.
City officials say they think the problem can be handled with existing nuisance bylaws.
