Juveniles arrested for gang graffiti

The Gainesville-Hall County Gang Task Force arrested two juveniles on graffiti charges Wednesday afternoon.

According to Capt. Jeff Strickland with the Hall County Sheriff's Office, both juveniles were identified as members of the criminal street gang SUR 13. Both were seen spray painting the SUR 13 moniker under the bridge on Griffin Circle off Hancock Avenue, Strickland said.

They were taken into custody by task force agents and charged with criminal interference with government property, according to Strickland. He said both juveniles are being held at the Gainesville Regional Youth Development Center.

Orange spray paint used in the offense and blue bandanas that often signify gang affiliation were seized in the arrest, Strickland said. SUR 13, also known as "SureAos-13," centers mainly in Rabbittown and New Holland in Hall County.

The sheriff's office urges anyone seeing illegal graffiti painting to report it by calling 911.
