A-G rejects graffiti website criticism
South Australia's Attorney-General Michael Atkinson has rejected Opposition suggestions that he did nothing about a website recruiting young people to damage public property with graffiti.

Mr Atkinson says he contacted the Police Commissioner, the Communications and Media Authority and the Federal Attorney-General as soon as he heard of the problem.

He says he was aware that local police had the power to shut down such a website, despite the Opposition suggesting he was not aware.

"That's why I wrote to the Commissioner of Police, Mr Hyde, and he's acted swiftly," he said.

"I've sent a letter to my colleagues on the standing committee of Attorneys General, to make sure that the classification rules enable this type of website to be removed immediately, so there's no doubt about it."
