NEW MILFORD -- Police detectives investigating the graffiti and vandalism at two
local churches last week are finishing interviews of four individuals believed
to be involved.
By Wednesday they should be able to make appropriate arrests, since
investigating detectives expect to "apply for the warrants very soon," Lt. James
Duda said.
St. John's Episcopal Church on the Green and Christian Life Fellowship Church on
Dorwin Hill Road were targeted Thursday morning by vandals who printed Satanic
symbols and numbers on their doors and exterior walls.
The vandals also broke a stained-glass panel in the front window at St. John's
Episcopal.
Cleanup efforts were started immediately to rid the churches of the graffiti,
which was spray-painted in orange and green.
Town Council member Pete Bass said he hopes those charged will be required to do
community service that involves cleanup not only at the churches, but sweeping
downtown sidewalks and painting over other graffiti on local buildings.
