An 18-year-old Ellensburg man was cited and released by Ellensburg Police Department officers Monday night following a report of minors spray painting in the area of Sprague Street.

Capt. Ross Green said around 11:15 p.m. officers received reports of several juveniles spray painting a stop sign in the area of Sixth Avenue and Ruby Street. A short time later officers found three people in the 500 block of North Sprague Street.

Green said an officer noticed paint on one of the suspects and the 18-year-old male, whose name has not been released, reportedly admitted spray painting signs in the area. The man was cited for malicious mischief and released.

Later officers discovered several areas with similar graffiti. Kittcom dispatch reports said numerous signs, vehicles and buildings were spray painted in the Ruby, Pine and Sprague Street areas. Green said police will be trying to make contact with the 18-year-old.

Green did not have property damage estimates as incidents were still being reported.
