Aerosol artists to rescue of graffiti-plagued shops

Instead of spending his sunny Sunday afternoon relaxing, West Aucklander Adam Lane and a few of his mates decided to clean up a block of Kelston shops at their own expense.

The St Leonards Rd shops in Kelston were covered in graffiti and although the landlord was keen to see it gone, he was not willing to pay for its removal.

Undeterred by the lack of payment, the 19-year-old and his friends bought $100 worth of spray paint and set to work replacing tags with aerosol art.

Deciphered, this blue, red and white creation is actually the word 'Fruit' in between two circles.

When he is not offering his services free of charge, Mr Lane works part-time for the Tag Out Trust, which helps removed graffiti from walls, bus stops and shops all around West Auckland.
