Three vandals arrested in Hernando graffiti case
HERNADO, MS -- Police have arrested several suspects in a case of vandalism. On
Monday, people living in the Edge Water neighborhood of Hernando, Mississippi
found graffiti and torn up lawns.
Last night police arrested two of the vandals and this morning a third was
brought in. Police are still looking for two more suspects. Police say the
vandals are all under the age of 17 with one of them as young as 12-years old.
The vandals were busy writing graffiti on fences, picnic tables and pillars.
They also also drove an ATV on the grass and damaged lawns doing wheelies.
The question on everyone's mind is why did they do it? Police say they were
bored. Monday was a holiday. The children had a long weekend and had nothing to
do.
The suspects face malicious mischief charges and if they are brought to court,
they could face anything from fines to probation.
Police say one thing is certain --the parents will have to pay for the damage
their children caused. Police say they want to make a send a message and will be
tough on the kids.
