Tagger known as 'KIKO' pleads guilty to vandalism charges
10/23/2006
A 28-year-old Manhattan man charged with being one of the city's most notorious
graffiti vandals pleaded guilty last Thursday to vandalizing a number of schools
and private properties in Long Island City and Astoria during the fall of 2005.
He is expected to face six months in jail and thousands of dollars in fines, the
Queens district attorney said.
Oliver Siandre, who is better known as graffiti tagger "KIKO," pleaded guilty
last week to a number of felony criminal mischief charges and for spray painting
his tag name at a number of locations throughout the borough, Queens District
Attorney Richard Brown said. Siandre, who lives at 100 West 92nd St. in
Manhattan, could face up to six months in jail and $25,000 in restitution to the
city, if convicted, the DA said.
Siandre is scheduled to be sentenced before Queens Supreme Court Justice Barry
Kron on Dec. 7, Brown said. In addition to the jail sentence, Siandre is
expected to be given five years probation and must pay damages to the businesses
and homeowners that he spray-painted, the DA said.
Western Queens elected officials, who have long fought for longer sentences for
graffiti vandals, said they were pleased with the expected sentence for Siandre.
