3 charged in SL graffiti case

SARANAC LAKE — Village police arrested three Saranac Lake youths Sunday for allegedly being responsible for graffiti found on local businesses and other buildings.

The first arrest was at 6:06 p.m. Sunday, following a traffic stop for an inadequate exhaust, police said. During the traffic stop, police discovered a notebook, which turned out to be the driver’s, the had symbols and writing resembling the graffiti around the village, police said.

The driver was then interviewed, leading to the arrest of two other individuals, police said. More arrests are pending.

Police have been investigating the graffiti for several months.

All three potential youthful offenders were charged with making graffiti and trespassing. Two were charged with possession of graffiti instruments.

All three were processed, released and are scheduled to appear in village court at a later date.
