The City of Cincinnati has a quite a clean-up job ahead after a group of aerosol artists came to town this weekend.

Thousands of people from around the country, and as far away as Denmark, came to our city for a hip-hop event. The event at Bellvue Park in Clifton was harmless enough. But Scribble Jam 2003 also includes an appreciation for graffiti.

Graffiti is a crime when it is on other people's property. It was all over Clifton. Someone got the Big Boy and they got Sherri Keidel's market.

"It just looks nasty. It looks trashy," said Keidel. "I'm sure they wouldn't like it if we did it to their homes, the people who do this, you know?"

Police caught the four people who they said spray-painted the City of Cincinnati's municipal garage, but also believe there were many out-of-towners in the Queen City with cans in hand.

"Many buildings, signs, and walls were spray-painted in the University of Cincinnati area of Clifton," said Cincinnati Police Sgt. Howard Pyles.

One of Scribble Jam's organizers said the city will still come out ahead.

"The amount of vandalism that might have been done around the city is minor in my eyes considering we had 6000 people that filled up the Marriott, filled up the Crowne Plaza," said Scribble Jam organizer, Nick Accurso.

Whatever hotels these folks may have filled, there are those relieved to see the dance end.

The four people arrested face criminal damaging charges.

The Scribble Jam organizers said they do not condone the illegal graffiti. They actually provided a wall at an eastside club for the visiting aerosol artists to express themselves.
