Bid to beat graffiti
SPEAKERS from around the world will be coming to Sheffield to address a conference aimed at tackling graffiti.
The Anti-Graffiti Association is holding its first national
conference to discuss vandalism in Sheffield during April.
The key speaker will be Martin Giles from Sweden who will explain how the
problem is tackled in his country.
Sheffield Council will present a case study of how it tackles graffiti in the
city by working with public and private sector organisations that have signed up
to a Graffiti Charter.
The conference has already attracted delegates from all over the UK and abroad.
Also expected to attend are British Waterways, Scottish Heritage and West
Midlands Police representatives.
Coun Harry Harpham, the council's Cabinet member for Streetscene, said:
"It's really encouraging to have such an excellent response to the first
national conference of this kind."
Log on to Sheffield Council's web site www.sheffield.gov.uk for full details of
the conference. On-line reservation forms are available.
